About Renewables Done Right

Renewables Done Right explores how rural and regional Australians are living and working alongside renewable energy projects, like wind farms, solar farms and associated energy infrastructure such as transmission lines.

Compiled by RE-Alliance (learn more about us below), Renewables Done Right is a live project with regular updates and new case studies added frequently.

The project came to life as we identified a need for real stories from regional and rural Australia about how we are navigating Australia’s shift to renewable energy. As coal-fired power stations increasingly retire and we shift to an electricity grid powered by renewable sources, communities at the heart of this change are crying out for information that is relevant to their lived experience.

With this project, we want to show what's possible if we do renewables right.

If you have a story that you think we should cover, we’d love to hear from you! Please reach out via [email protected].

About RE-Alliance

The Renewable Energy Alliance (RE-Alliance) is an independent not-for-profit organisation operating across Australia, who works to deliver a responsible shift to renewable energy that actively contributes to the strength of our regions.

We listen to and build the capacity of rural and regional Australians to lead the shift to renewables in their communities; we elevate stories that show how people in renewable energy regions are ensuring projects deliver local benefits; and we work tirelessly to ensure that rural and regional voices are at the centre of our advocacy with governments and industry.

We have more than a decade of experience working with regional communities navigating all forms of renewable energy, transmission and storage.

We play a unique role in Australia’s energy sector and are recognised for our leading work with regional communities to help them get the most out of the shift to clean energy in their regions. With over 40% of Australia’s electricity already coming from renewables and the energy shift expected to more than double that by 2030, our work has never been more important.
